Queen of Shadows REVIEW

The queen has returned.

Everyone Celaena Sardothien loves has been taken from her. But she’s at last returned to the empire—for vengeance, to rescue her once-glorious kingdom, and to confront the shadows of her past…

She has embraced her identity as Aelin Galathynius, Queen of Terrasen. But before she can reclaim her throne, she must fight.

She will fight for her cousin, a warrior prepared to die for her. She will fight for her friend, a young man trapped in an unspeakable prison. And she will fight for her people, enslaved to a brutal king and awaiting their lost queen’s triumphant return.

The fourth volume in the New York Times bestselling series continues Celaena’s epic journey and builds to a passionate, agonizing crescendo that might just shatter her world.

My review:

Queen of Shadows is my favourite book of the throne of glass series so far! The book was really interesting and captivating storyline that made it impossible to put down. I loved how it was fast paced but it so fast paced that it ruined the story. Sarah’s writing style is amazing! It’s hard to describe how much I love it. She is a brilliant author!

The characterisation in the book was amazing! I loved Aelin! She is definitely one of the best characters that I’ve read. She is written so well! As for Rowan, all that I can say is that he is perfect! I am so looking forward to reading about him and Aelin in the next book. As for Dorian, my emotions were all over the place. Everything that happened to him in this book just broke my heart… I’d say more but I’m keeping this review spoiler (I’m trying). You get to meet some amazing new characters in this book who I can’t help but love! They definitely make the book just that little bit better. As for Chaol, I don’t think that I’ve ever changed opinions on a character as quickly as I have with him. He changed a lot in the series which is sad but it was bound to happen after the events that have occurred in previous books and this book. In Heir of Fire, lot’s of people loved Manon which I never understood. I used to dread her chapters because I found this boring and unnecessary. In this book however, I began to like her chapters and the character itself. She’s not one my favourite characters, that title belongs to Aelin, Rowan and Dorian but I do like her and I’m looking forward to what she’ll do in the next book. The characterisation in this book is the best of the entire series so far! They all lead you on a rollercoaster of emotions that is so hard to describe.

One thing I love about not only this book but the whole series is the world that was created. I can love the characters and storyline but if the world building is horrible, it ruins the book for me. In this novel, the world building is fantastic! I absolutely love that each book includes a map at the beginning. It’s nice to have when you’re reading because it helps imagining the world in your head.

Overall this book was amazing! I loved everything about the book and I can’t wait for the next book which comes out in September. I highly recommend it to anyone who likes fantasy but I honestly feel like everyone should read it. If you’ve read the first book and you found it an okay read, please keep reading because the books just get better and better!

Rating: 5/5 stars!
